For generations, the Rittsteuer family has been involved in cultivating wines. Following this tradition, the family’s major aim is to produce expressive and independent top quality wines.
The 9 hectares of vineyards are cultivated with white (55%) and red (45%) grapes. Among the white wines produced are Chardonnay, Weißburgunder, Welschriesling and Grüner Veltliner.
The main varieties among the red wines are Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Blaufränkisch and Merlot. The wines are matured in small oak barrels and steel tanks. The vineyards are situated on the gentle hills surrounding the north bank of Lake Neusiedl. The lake is not only an important agricultural factor but also provides ideal climatic conditions that are conducive to excellent wine production.
It is Paul and Elisabeth Rittsteuer’s philosophy to make the best use of this great natural potential for the wine production.
Paul Rittsteuer was a member of the Burgenland government responsible for the wine sector for over 18 years. He was heavily involved in the development of the Burgenland wine industry and is now President of the “Renowned Wineries of Burgenland”. Despite his work in varied roles over the years, he has always remained a passionate wine producer. His high degree of sensitivity to natural connections and his sophisticated intuition are reflected in his wines. His numerous awards and prizes are the best indications for his top quality, and the Chardonnay “Lehmgruber” Weißburgunder, Zweigelt “Neuberg”,“Am See” red and Merlot “Neuberg” always feature at the top of the list.
