ANTON KOLLWENTZ – the doyen of Burgenland viticulture – is celebrating his 80th birthday!

On the occasion of the anniversary, a book about the exceptional winemaker was published: “THE WINE PIONEER ANTON KOLLWENTZ” – the story of a Burgenland wine dynasty (published in German)

Anton Kollwentz is rightly regarded as one of the pioneers in Austrian viticulture. At the beginning of the 1980s, against the opposition of the authorities, he obtained a special permit to plant Cabernet Sauvignon. He established Burgenland wine early on in the best restaurants in Austria. He played a key role in the creation of the “Austrian red wine miracle”.

In the family winery in Großhöflein, on September 2nd the anniversary – including the book presentation and the inauguration of the new barrel cellar – was celebrated with family, friends and companions.
Anton Kollwentz is also a founding member of the Renowned Wineries of Burgenland. The colleagues of the winegrowing group warmly congratulate the honorary president of the RWB.
